What is a Shopper?
A Shopper is part of the ISawItIn Community who has found the actual item at an online store or has found an Inspired Style. When you see a "Shoppers Needed" button on an item, see if you can find the item at an online store, email us the specifics and we will add the shop and list you as the PowerShopper who found the item (or even a similiar style).
Why so many "Shoppers Needed" listings?
Well the truth is that this is not easy..(yes everyone feel sorry for us here at ISawItIn.com). Ok, it is fun to watch movies and figure out what designer an actress or actor is wearing and searching the web and other media for information is a great way to spend the day. Yes, our industry contacts make "doing lunch" quite an affair and all of you really help when you spot something and let us know. But the fact remains that there are two big questions that keep all of us from getting our hands on what we see in the movies.
1. What brand or designer is it?
2. Where can I buy it?
So we figure if we can at least answer question #1, then that's a start. So that is why you see so many "Shoppers Needed" listings, we want to get the information out to all of you as soon as we can and then we hope someone finds an online (or even offline) source to buy the item, clicks on "Shoppers Needed" and tells us where to get it so we can post the info.
What is an Inspired Style?
Sometimes we can't find the exact item featured in the movie. This can happen when the item has been discontinued, we are still searching for it, it was an original made specifically for the movie or it simply may not be available online. In other cases, our section editors have found something similar to the featured item which they feel our readers would be interested in. In both cases we use the "Inspired Style" listing to indicate that it is not the featured item but our inclusion of it on the website was inspired by the featured item
How can I find something you don't list on your website?
The easiest way is to go to our forums and post what you're looking for, giving as much detail as possible. This way you get your forum readers to help identify the items. Of course, you can also continue to look for it yourself and then post on the forum letting others knows “I Saw it in…and I found it”, which would then make you an official spotter.
Why don't you list all the products from a movie?
We try to be as comprehensive as possible but, of course, there will always be items we don’t list. Usually we work on the items that we think most people have an interest in or items we thought were cool or looked good. In most cases, we try to add a listing of at least the brands we spotted to help our readers identify the exact item and become a spotter.
How do you know the item found is the exact item featured in the movie?
We don’t always know. In most cases we attempt to verify the product with our contacts at the manufacturer. In other cases we rely on our information sources from the industry. But there is never a 100% guarantee that the item found is exactly what was one the screen. Sometimes the color is slightly off from what was in the movie (this is called "teching" and refers to the alteration, coloration, or distressing that may be done by the studio as part of their creative process) and sometimes the style has changed so the only item available may be a bit different then what was in the movie.
What is a Spotter?
A person who has recognized, identified and sent us information (what, where, description) on a product, fashion, brand or item they have seen in a movie.
I love the movies and your site, can I get a job working for you?
The easiest way to get involved with us is to become a spotter and/or a shopper. Of course you're not really working for us, more like working as part of your fellow movie fan community to help each other find and buy the things you saw in the movies.
