Awake is a 2007 thriller/drama film written and directed by Joby Harold with costume design by Cynthia Flynt, who was also the costume designer on Riding in Cars with Boys, League of their Own amongst other films. The story focuses on a man (Hayden Christensen) who is in love with a woman (Jessica Alba) but is unwilling to tell his mother of their relationship. We later find out this is due to the woman being his mother's PA. The man suffers from a heart condition which requires a heart transplant to be carried out by a doctor who previously saved his life and is now his good friend. However during the surgery he encounters "anesthetic awareness" and finds himself awake and aware, but paralyzed. To escape the pain, he has an out of body experience and uncovers some sinister plots. Meanwhile his young wife (Jessica Alba) must wrestle with her own demons as a drama unfolds around them.
